Sankofa Bowtie

The Sankofa Bowtie is the foundation of this month’s Velt’Larant inspiration.

Before garments become shirts, jackets, or coats, they begin as bow ties, the symbolic centerpiece of the Velt’Larant design language.

Named after the West African concept Sankofa, the act of returning to retrieve what was forgotten, this bowtie represents memory, transformation, and presence across environments.

Formal or relaxed.

Traditional or creative.

The bowtie adapts to the wearer.

Handmade in California from 100% cotton printed textile, each piece carries the visual rhythm of African storytelling through pattern and form.
